Susan Barzdines

Susan Barzdines is a licensed professional counselor who has a strong clinical background from 18 years of working as a therapist and clinical supervisor at the local community mental health center in Colorado Springs.  Susan joined Wings of Grace in order to offer faith-sensitive counseling in a supportive Christian private practice environment.  Her walk with Christ includes a calling since she was an undergraduate in college to be involved in some way in the healing ministry. This calling was manifested in Susan’s life in terms of studying psychotherapy.

 

Susan has her master’s degree in professional psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, and also has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University.  Her training and experience includes a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and EMDR.

 

Susan works with adults in individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy, and also has much experience doing group therapy.  Besides working with adults, she also has experience in working with adolescents.  She is highly skilled in working with persons experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma / post-traumatic stress, and bipolar symptoms, and also in working with individuals having difficulty with relationship issues.  Additionally, Susan works with individuals in the process of recovery from substance abuse, and she has facilitated groups regarding relapse prevention and related concerns.

 

Susan enjoys helping people focus on finding the joy in life as they rediscover their own strengths and abilities within the framework of their hopes, dreams, and values.  She will assist you in exploring new horizons in your life as you work on finding your own path to healing and wellness.
