Nate Havens

One of the most important factors in counseling is the relationship between the counselor and the client.  Nate understands the need to determine whether or not his style may be a good fit for a client’s needs. In order to help get a sense of that, he invites you to reach out to him to schedule a free 20 minute initial consultation. He is trained and equipped to see clients in person, over the phone, or remotely (if appropriate).

Nate Havens is a son of God and is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado.  He received both his BA in Psychology and MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.  He worked in banking for almost 20 years before switching careers to counseling.  His expertise stems from his own healing and growth addressing sexually addictive behaviors, his personal relationship with Christ, his authentic relationships with others, and his professional training.  His professional approach is holistic - taking into account the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social aspects of each individual. He aligns most closely with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy.  He is also trained in EMDR.

Nate’s primary client base is individual males. He helps a client to identify the story, thoughts and emotions behind their behaviors.  The majority of the clients he sees are dealing with sexual issues (pornography, masturbation, affairs, sexual chatting), unwanted same sex attraction, depression, anxiety, and/or self-esteem barriers. He also works with other issues as they arise.

When dealing with sexual issues, Nate strongly believes in both individual support and group support.  That is why he offers multiple online groups each week for Christian men who need authentic connection with other men who are dealing with similar issues.  Nate believes Satan’s goal is an individual’s destruction, and Satan’s primary method is to attempt to disconnect a person from God, from self, and from others.  A combination of individual and group support combats that scheme and helps to foster an environment for growth.

Nate was raised in Colorado and enjoys spending time in God’s beautiful creation, especially in the mountains near a river.  He loves to play cards, tennis, racquetball, go on short hikes, swim, and takes on an occasional paintball challenge.  He lives in Colorado Springs and celebrates life with his wife and two children.  Nate is the founder of Growing Hope Counseling PLLC and Growing Hope Coaching LLC. Through his practice he has helped many individuals to grow in authenticity and hope in their individual lives.
