Susan Barzdines is a licensed professional counselor who has a strong clinical background from 18 years of working as a therapist and clinical supervisor at the local community mental health center in Colorado Springs.  Susan joined Wings of Grace in order to offer faith-sensitive counseling in a supportive Christian private practice environment.  Her walk with Christ includes a calling since she was an undergraduate in college to be involved in some way in the healing ministry.  This calling was manifested in Susan’s life in terms of studying psychotherapy.

Susan has her master’s degree in professional psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, and also has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University.  Her training and experience includes a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, and thought field therapy. 

Susan works with adults and adolescents in individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy, and also has much experience doing group therapy.  She is highly skilled in working with persons experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma / post-traumatic stress, and bipolar symptoms, and also in working with individuals having difficulty with relationship issues.  Additionally she works with individuals in the process of recovery from substance abuse, and has facilitated groups regarding relapse prevention and related concerns.
