Marianne Trout is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a fourteen year background in working with individuals, couples, and families. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Denver in social work, with an emphasis in clinical counseling. She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since graduating from DU in 1993.
Marianne began her counseling career as a therapist in Colorado Springs. From there, God moved her to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she enjoyed challenging clinical opportunities along with excellent supervision in a locked adolescent psychiatric facility. Along with providing therapy to the teens on her unit, Marianne also worked extensively with the families, foster families, and local law enforcement to ensure appropriate treatment and follow-up of the teens. After becoming licensed in 1996, Marianne accepted a position in Boulder City, Nevada, at a Partial Hospitalization program, specializing in providing individual and group therapy to adult schizophrenic and bi-polar clients. Marianne now finds herself back in Colorado, and brings her years of experience to Wings of Grace in working with clients for whom life has become difficult in one respect or another.
Marianne has been no stranger to life’s challenges, both physically and emotionally. “I was that high school girl that no one ever thought would leave school early, but in my senior year, I became pregnant and left school to marry and have my first son. Four years later, we had a second son, and they are the lights of my life.” Even with a fulfilling family life, however, Marianne yearned to return to school. With the loving support of her husband and sons, she completed her studies and went on to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, graduating Summa Cum Laude – all this while performing the duties of an Air Force wife. “Sometimes, I look back and wonder how I did all that. But I knew then, and still know today, that this is God’s plan for my life, and that He had my back through it all.”
Marianne is a delightful addition to the staff here at Wings of Grace because she truly loves her work and brings with her great depth and breadth of life experiences. Asked once to define therapy, she responded, “Simply put? It is the art of taking what is unconsciously driving one’s behavior, bringing it to one’s conscious thought, and then deciding what to keep, and what to discard.” Marianne embraces cognitive behavioral therapy as an effective tool in helping her clients deal with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and personality disorders. She will be able to assist you in finding greater joy and deeper meaning in your life, and walk with you as you change and grow.
